Henry Fred Beard (b. July 25,1876) was the son of Henry Clay Beard and Lucinda (nee Macy) Beard. His father died at the age of 39(1877) when Henry Fred was just a baby, the mother raised the five children, Fred being the youngest. Siblings were Leonora Charlotte Hadley, Eva (died the day she was born), Jonathon Seward Beard ,John Greenleaf Whittier Beard, Charles Sumner Beard. He met Ora Mae Cheesman and they were married. 24 Sept, 1903 at Economy, In. They immigrated to Canada in about 1908, taking all their belongings loaded in a box car from Indiana to Milk River, Alberta, Canada. They homesteaded 160 acres about 5 miles east of town. Here they raised their family. Fred farmed the homestead untill the 50's with a brief interuption when they travelled to Newberg, Ore and lived there for about seven years (this was due to a couple of bad crop years). They moved back to the homestead in about 1922. They moved into the village of Milk River in the early 1950's and had a large garden in their back yard. Henry Fred and Ora Mae celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1953 with most of their family in attendance. Henry Fred and Ora Mae had 5 children. The farm is still in the family and the home that Fred built in 1908 still stands (barely). Fred is buried in the Town of Milk River Cemetery beside his wife, Ora Mae (Cheesman)Beard
