Henry Wallace Beard was born in Economy, Indiana in 1904 to Henry Fred and Ora Mae Beard (first child). His parents immigrated to Milk River Alberta, Canada in 1908. Henry started school in 1910,at the Milk River area 215 school. He graduated from the eighth grade in 1917. He then attended High School in the town of Milk River. After missing 2 years of school because of illness he recieved his junior matriculation(grade 11)in 1922. He may have been the first student to graduate from Milk River High School. Henry recieved his senior matriculation from the Raymond School of Agriculture in 1923. He continued his schooling at Pacific College in Newberg, Ore. He then transferred to Oregon State College, Corvallis, Ore. He was awarded a Bacalaureate in Scienc(Pharmacy) in 1929. He eventually acheived a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He worked in various drugstores in southwestern Oregon untill he opened his own Drugstore in Empire, Ore in 1937. He sold his store in the early part of WWII and enlisted in the Navy, seeing action at Guadacanal, Tulagi and New Hebrides in the South Pacific. He recieved the Navy Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal as well as ribbons for American Theatre, Asiatic Theatre, one deviceand the National Defense Ribbon. He was discharged a Commisioned Officer from the Navy. He transferred his Commision to the United States Health Service where he retired as aCaptain in 1968. Henry married Bernice Covalt from Bend, Oregon in 1930. Henry was a Mason, a Royal Arch mason, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, a Shriner, a member of the Eastern Star, and Order of Amaranth Sojourners. He was affiliated with the Episcopalian Church. Henry and Bernice had a son Wallace and a daughter Mary.
