In memory of Wallace Fredrick Beard. Mr. Wallace "Wally" Beard, 81 of Marietta, GA passed away May 24, 2013. He was born to the late Henry and Bernice Beard on September 21. 1931 in Reedsport, Oregon. He grew up in San Francisco and met the love of his life, Christine at Mission High School. After Wally graduated from high school, he attended San Jose State University , he then served in the US Army. After his honorable service during the Korean War, he finished college at San Jose State with a bachelor's degree. Wally began his career working for the Fiber Board Paper Co, and retired from Mead as Vice President of Administration. A world traveler, Wally with his wife, visted all seven continents, all 50 states and over 100 countries. His favorite way to travel was by freighter ship. he was an avid sports fan and golfer. Wally was very involved with the Kiwanis Club, a member of the Sons Of Italy and volunteered his time with the USO. Wally was active with Habitat for Humanity. he was a faithful volunteer with the Assistance League of Atlanta. Wally was past President of Friends of atlanta Opera Support Group. He was an avid volunteer with the atlanta Special Olympics. Wall was a volunteer at the Mountain View Arts Center. He was a past Board member of Mended Hearts. Wally volunteered for St. Ann's 50 plus group luncheon's. He was extremely patriotice, honest, kind and lovable, never wanting to miss an opportunity to help someone in need. He also loved to eat, especially his wife's home cooking. Wally leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Christine Beard, children, Wally Beard Jr, Linette Hagaman (Jim), Chad Beard (Amy), and Garth Beard ( Angi), 8 grandchildren, 2 great granchildren and a sister Mary Towles. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 PM-8PM at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel, Marietta , GA. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 29th, 2013 at 11 AM at the Catholic Church of St. Ann. Inurment service will be on Friday at 10:30 AM at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton. Wally will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
