ANOTHER NONAGENARIAN

Mrs. Sophia Starn, who usually makes her home with her daughter, Mrs. Harmon Young, on North Beech street, recently celebrated her 90th birthday anniversary, the date being May 15th. She came to williams county from near Orrville, Wayne county, and located about two miles southeast of Bryan in May 1854, and has resided in this neighborhood ever since. Her husband, John Starn, died about 28 years ago and she has been a widow since. She was the mother of four daughters who all lived to womanhood and all married, but the oldest, Mrs. Lucinda Shaffer, died six years ago. The daughters are Mrs. Susan Johnston, a (unreadable) now of Bryan, who raised a mill(unreadable) of four sons all living and married in this community; Mrs. Harmon Young, also of Bryan, who has three children, two sons and a daughter. The daughter died a few years ago, one son, Orra, who lives with his parents single (but ought to be married) and one son, who is married and lives in Michigan. Probably no one her has more relatives living in this vicinity than Mrs. Starn. She has one sister, Mrs. John Yates, and one brother, Jacob Schartzer, still living, out of a family of 13 children, 11 of whom were married and raised families. J.D. Starn is her nephew, his mother, and Mrs. Starn having been sisters and married brothers, Alexander Starn and John Starn. Mrs. A.R. Dewees' mother was also a Schartzer and a sister of Mrs. Starn. This is suggested by the item in this paper regarding the celebration of the 90th birthday of Jacob Rager, one of the fine old citizens of Bryan. - Contributed.
