MRS. MARY YATES

Mrs. Mary Yates was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Schartzer, and was born in Wayne County, Ohio, July 29th, 1841. She departed this life in Bryan on Sept. 21st, 1926, at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 22 days. She was about twelve years of age when her family came to Bryan, and for 73 years she had been a resident of this community. She was united in marriage to John Yates on May 3, 1860. To this union were born four children, one dying in infancy. Another, Elmer, died in 1925. One son, George Yates, and one daughter, Mrs. Clara Harring, both of Bryan, survive her. One grandchild and four greatgrandchildren also are left. The husband died in Nov. 1921, more than a year after celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. One brother, Jacob Schartzer, of Bryan, also survives.
Mrs. Yates united with the Methodist Episcopal church in her early life, and was always a faithful and active member during her years of health. For many months preceding her death she had suffered the infirmities of age, and was waiting for that release which she earnestly desired. At last she has been called home. May her memory long abide as a hallowed influence upon all who knew her.
Funeral services were held from her late home at 133 S. Walnut St., on Sept. 25th, conducted by Rev. W. F. Martin, her pastor. Burial was in Fountain Grove.
