PHILIP SCHATZER
Philip Schatzer was born in Wayne County, Ohio, April 24, 1839 and died at Bryan, Ohio, Dec. 15, 1916, at the ripe age of 77 years, seven months, and 21 days.
He lived in his native county until he was 12 years old, and then moved with his parents to Williams county and has lived in and around Bryan for a little more than 65 years.
He was married to Harriet Copeland September 18, 1861. To this union six children were born, two of which died in infancy. Those remaining are Albert A. Schatzer, George Schatzer and Mrs. Cora A. Fetzer of Bryan, Ohio, and Norman D. Shatzer of Montpelier, Ohio.
He was a patient sufferer for a great while and was in his usual health until Friday morning when dreaded paralysis laid his icy hands of death upon him and in a few hours claimed him as his own.
He was a good husband and kind father. He leaves to mourn his sudden departure, a loving devoted wife, three sons, one daughter, two sisters, one brother, seventeen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
His labors are over and his work is ended and he is in the hands of God Who doeth all things well.
His body was laid to rest in the Brown cemetery a short distance northwest of Bryan.
Funeral conducted from his late residence on South Beech street Sunday afternoon at one o' clock by Rev. W. H. Howard of the United Brethren Church.
