HARRIET C. SCHARTZER

Harriet Copeland Schartzer was born in Richland county, Ohio, September 13, 1844. Departed this life February 12, 1920, aged 75 years, 4 months, and 29 days.
She was married to Philip Schartzer September 18, 1861. To this union was born six children, two of whom, with her husband, have preceded her in death. The other four, Albert A. Schartzer, Mrs. Cora A. Fetzer, Norman D. and George R. Schartzer together with 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren are left to mourn a kind and affectionate mother and grandmother. Her girlhood days were spent in Richland county, the family moving to Williams county after she became a young woman. The remainder of her life has been spent around Bryan. In her early life she became a member of the Disciple church and although she has been unable to attend their meetings, her faith never wavered.
She was a good and kind wife and mother and was always willing to help those who were sick and needy to the best of her ability. She has long been an invalid, but has shown great patience through her suffering.
Of her immediate family, a brother and sister, Bavin Copeland and Elizabeth Mortland, of Toledo, O., are all that remain.

She was married to Philip Schartzer in Sept. 1861 and the union was blessed with six children, two of whom with the husband preceded her to the better life. The remaining four, Albert Schartzer, Mrs. Cora Fetzer, Norman D. and George, with 17 grandchildren are left to cherish her memory. In early life she became a member of the Christian church and she remained firm in the faith until the end.
Of her own family, Bavin Copeland and Elizabeth Moreland, of Toledo, are all that remain.
Funeral services were held at the late residence last Sunday, Rev. Mr. Whyman officiating and the remains were laid at rest in Brown's cemetery.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were her son Norman, his wife and family and Mr. and Mrs. Boone, of Montpelier, Mr. and Mrs. Shaffer and daughters of Melbern. Her grandchildren acted as pall bearers.

We desire to thank all who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our mother, also for the floral tributes and songs rendered by the ladies of the U.B. church and for the words of comfort offered by Rev. Whyman.
