DAISIE ESTHER WHITSON

Daisie Esther Elliott was born to Robert and Fern (Rohrer) Elliott, Jan. 19, 1924, on a farm near Russell, Iowa. She passed away Aug. 13, 2002, at the Lucas County Health Center at the age of 78 years.

Daisie grew up and attended school in Lucas County. She was a member of the Open Bible Church in Iowa Falls.

She married Donald Ralph Clark in 1939. To this union were born five children: Irene Halferty and husband Stan, Wilbur Clark, Donna Bentley and husband Leonard, Harold Clark and wife Cathy and Jess Clark.

Daisie married Donald David Clark in 1952. To this union were born two children, Carolyn Albee and husband Ed, and Marjorie Clark.

In 1964, Daisie married Dean Whitson. They owned and operated a bar in Woodburn for 27 years. Daisie enjoyed going fishing, playing cards and visiting the casinos. She was a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary. She loved her family and friends alike. Daisie will live in our hearts and memories forever.

Daisie was preceded in death by her husband Donald Ralph Clark, husband Donald David Clark, brother Robert and daughter Marjorie.

She is survived by her husband, Dean Whitson; three sons: Harold Clark of Chariton, Jess Clark of Murray and Wilbur Clark of Woodburn; three daughters: Caroline Albee of Marshalltown, Donna Bentley of Latimer, Iowa, and Irene Halferty of North Richland Hills, Texas; her brother Raymond Elliott of Williamson; seven sisters: Ethel Pierce of Ames, Thelma Raffety, Beulah Beadle and Helen Sims, all of Chariton, Beverly Buckalew of Hamburg, Iowa, Mary Ann Gold of Clarinda and Myrtle Hamilton of Chariton. Nineteen grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 at the Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Olson officiating. Serving as bearers were Shawn McDonald, Vincent Bentley, David Albee, Mark Weis, Aaron Clark, Lonnie Sims and Rob Hamilton. Honorary bearers were David Halferty, Ronnie Beadle, Roy Beadle, Damion Clark and Dennis Elliott. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
