Thelma Irene Raffety, daughter of Robert Nisley and Fern Elizabeth (Roher) Elliott, was born May 15, 1921 in Pleasant Township, Lucas County, Iowa. On April 27, 1943, Thelma married Kenneth Earl Raffety in San Diego, California, where they lived until moving back to the Raffety Family Farm in 1947. They lived on the farm until moving to Chariton, Iowa in 1972. Thelma was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter; siblings: Bob Elliott, Ethel Pierce, Daisie Clark, Beulah Beadle, Mary Ann Gold, Raymond Elliott; and brother-in-laws: Everett Pierce, Dwain Beadle, Robert Hamilton and William Gold.
She is survived by three sisters: Helen Sims, Beverly (Clyde) Buckalew, and Myrtle Hamilton; three sons: Dean (Judy) Raffety, Michael (Jackie) Raffety, and Roger Raffety; three grandchildren: Deana (Dean) Cook, Darrin (Jackie) Raffety and Sarah (Derek) Sandy; and six great grandchildren.

Services for Thelma I. Raffety will be held at the Fielding Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2014, with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery.
