William H. Lacy
William Hartwell (Bill) Lacy, 71, of R-4, Lawrenceville, formerly of Toccoa died in an Atlanta hospital Thursday afternoon, Jan. 9, after an extended illness.
The son of the late Robert L. and Mary Smith Lacy, he was born Aug. 26, 1903, in Hall County but had spent most of his life in Toccoa and Stephens County. Prior to his retirement, he was affiliated with Hartwell Mills for some 27 years. Mr. Lacy was a veteran and was of the Holiness Faith. His wife, the late Mrs. Elizabeth (Lizzie) Ivester Stewart Lacy, died Nov. 1. 1974.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Wenfred Shedd of Eastanollee, Mrs. Fred Gibbs of Suwanee and Mrs. Ivan Inman of Norcross; four sons, Joe Stewart of Toccoa, Fred Lacy of Gainesville, James Lacy of Lawrenceville and Charles Lacy of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Mellie Powell and Mrs. Rosie Brown, both of Anderson, S.C., 29 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. from the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest Ivester and Rev. Estes Littleton officiating.
Pallbearers were Sammy Lacy, Dwain Shedd, Wayne Shedd, Randy Garrett, David Lacy and David A. Lacy.
Interment was in Stephens Memorial Gardens with Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
