Margaret was born in Wadena County, Minnesota the daughter of Peter and Gertrude (Schmitz) Gaul. Margaret married
William D. Jordan in Missouri while Bill was in the service. Bill had an alcohol problem and they were later
divorced. To their marriage were born sons Terrance, Daniel, Rory, David, and Randy.

After the death of Margaret's sister Helen, Margaret married her ex brother-in-law Joseph R Hoffman.

Margaret suffered many tragedies in her life including the death of her three oldest sons. Terrance died as the result of a diabetic coma, Daniel died from a heart attack and Rory was killed in a cliff diving accident while attending a leadership conference for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Colorado.

Near the end of her life Margaret suffered from a number of infirmities.

Margaret is survived by her sons David and Randy; first husband William Jordan, second husband Joseph Hoffman;
Step Children Shirley, Joseph, Barbara and Richard; 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; two sisters Catherine Meech of Husdon, Wis and Mary Knisley of Wilmington OH.. She is preceded in death by her parents, three sons, four brothers, and five sisters.
