Gaul - Painter Nuptials

A wedding of interest - friends in northern Wadena county was soleminized Monday in Bertha when Miss Lucille Gaul of Verndale become the bride of Mr. Norman Painter of Rockwood Township. The couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. S. Alden of Bertha, uncle and aunt of the groom. They are now at home on a farm in Rockwood township.

LUCILLE PAINTER DIED IN ST. PAUL HOSPITAL

The intense snow storm kept the number of mourners to a minimum for the funeral of Lucille Painter which was held at 10 a.m. Saturday Apr 3 in St. Frederick's Catholic Church, Verndale. Mrs Painter died at the University of Minnesota Hospital on Thursday, Apr. 1, 1982 at the age of 62, a victim of cancer. Father Eugene Lemm, pastor, officiated the service. Pallbearers were Joseph Hoffman, Terry Jordan, Loyal Meech of St. Paul, Ricky Hoffman of Prior Lake, Glenn Meech of Stillwater and Paul Gaul of Excelsior. Burial will be in the church cemetery west of Verndale.

Lucille Elaine Painter was born to Peter A. and Gertrude Schmitz Gaul on July 2, 1920 in Wadena Township, Wadena County, Mn. She married Norman Painter, March 10, 1940 in Bertha. They farmed in the Wadena and Verndale area until 1962 when they moved to St. Paul where he was employed at the St. Paul Union Depot until November 1969, then returning to make their home in Verndale. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1978.

Survivors are two sons; Charles and John of St. Paul and one daughter, Gertrude Gutz, also of St. Paul; one grandchild; five sisters; Helen Hoffman of Prior Lake, Catherine Meech of Stillwater, Mary Knisley of Willmington OH, Margaret Jordan of St. Paul, Susan Muse of Springfield, OR, and one brother Andrew of St. Paul.
