Born October 16, 1918 to Peter and Gertrude Gaul, Theresa took over the raising of her ten (editors note: there were actually only 7 younger than her) younger brothers and sisters when she was 16 years old after the death of her mother in 1933. The family lived on a farm in Leaf River Towsnship until 1935 and then moved into Verndale
where her father passed away 10 years later. When the last
of her charges left home, Theresa went to St, Paul where she has been employed as a power machine operator until her illness. Theresa never married and suffered from diabetes along with the heart trouble which finally took her life.
One brother Nick, preceded her in death about a year ago.
Survivors include brothers and sisters: Mrs. Rosa Payne, Peter, Mrs, Norman (Lucille) Painter, Mrs. William (Susan) Muse, all of Verndale; Paul of Hoyt Lakes, MN, Mrs. Joe (Helen) Hoffman and Andrew of St. Paul, Mrs Vernon (Catherine) Meech, Stillwater, MN, Mrs, Vernon (Mary) Knisley, Wilmington OH, Mrs. William (Margaret) Jordan), Newport, MN; 38 nieces and nephews and 13 grand nieces and nephews.
Messer _ Johnson Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements with Father Eugene Lemm conducting the last rites at St Frederick's Catholic Church. Burial was in the church cemetery at Verndale. Casketbearers were nephews, Paul Gaul Jr., Minneapolis, Loyal Meech, St Paul, Terry Jordan, Newport, Charles and John Painter, St Paul, and Joe Hoffman, Burnsville.
