SANBORN, Iowa - John C. Hofland, 91, of Sanborn died Sunday, July 16, 1995, at Prairie View Retirement Home at Sanborn.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn with the Rev. Gary Hofland officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City. Visitation will begin after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Sanborn Funeral Home.
Mr. Hofland was born May 12, 1904, near Orange City, the son of Jacobus and Grietje (Bonnes) Hofland. He lived his youth and received his education in the Orange City area.
He married Lena Kraayenbrink Feb. 14, 1928, in Orange City. She died Nov. 17, 1941. He married Cornelia Kleyn Jan. 9, 1945, in Rock Ralley. She died Sept. 6, 1980. He came to the Sanborn area in 1928 where he was engaged in farming. He retired in 1975. He entered the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn Sept. 30, 1994.
Mr. Hofland was a member of Cornerstone Orthodox Reformed Church of Sanborn. He was an avid reader.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gertrude; a brother, Joe "Cornie" and a sister, Henrietta Mars.
