Mr. Perkins was born March 15, 1840 in New York State. At Cedar Valley, Iowa, January 8, 1873, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Fitzpatrick. To this union, 11 children were born, James, Henry, John, Mrs. Marguerite Castle, and Mrs. Catherine Thompson, of this place; Mrs. Mary Glenn, Minneapolis; Mrs. Elizabeth Jenkins, Marcus, Iowa; Mrs. Agnes Aslin, Sioux Falls. One son, Edward, died Jan. 1 1900 and one daughter, Mrs. Louis Castle passed away April 11, 1915. His wife died, May 23, 1910. 30 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive him. Pallbearers were L. Brewer, Pat Crelly, Herbert Roeman, Pat Sweeney, Tom Whalen and John Lenze. (Lyon County Reporter, Rock Rapids, IA, March 27, 1930)
