Lennie Cochran, 85, of Robbins, passed away September 16, 2003, at the Life Care Center of Morgan County. Born in Scott County, June 13, 1918, she was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Rosetta Welch Byrd; her husband, David Eugene Cochran; infant daughter, Frances; two sisters, Ada Goad, and Tilly Byrd: and three brothers: General, Elvin, and Milford Byrd. She was a member of Concord Separate Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters: Thelma Bertram and husband, Leonard; and Zelma Kimbrell and husband, Richard, all of Robbins, and Sandra Kelsey and husband, Bill, of Illinois; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Willard Byrd of Muncie Ind.; one sister, Ollie Byrd of Helenwood; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted September 18, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Bertram and Rev. Randall Kimbrell officiating. Music was provided by Jimmy and Sarah Byrd. Interment followed September 19, in Concord Cemetery. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (Source: The Independent Herald, 25 Sep 2003, p13)
