Leighton Page Gaddis attended school at Independence and Pulaski, Miss. At an early age, he was baptized at the Springfield Baptist Church by Rev. T. Jeff Miley (an uncle of the wife-to-be), where he remained a life-long member. When he was about 9 years old, he fell off of a horse and broke his shoulder. He was taken to the Dr. to have the broken bone set, but it didn't mend as it should; consequently, he could never raise his right arm vertically afterwards. Few men have worked harder, and farming is hard work, and none loved it more than Leighton.
