John Taylor Gaddis, Jr. attended Independence School and joined the Springfield Baptist Church at an early age, serving as organist in his younger days. He was an outstanding farmer of his day, never missing a crop, and he was one of the first farmers during pioneer days that started crop rotation and terracing the farm land. He was a Woodman of the World and a Deacon in the Springfield Baptist Church. He loved music and was Choir Leader for many years.
