RITES WEDNESDAY FOR W. A. PICKENS

Last rites for William A. Pickens, 70, well-known Zanesville pottery worker who died early Monday morning at his home, 1111 Maysville avenue, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the late residence.
Rev. Paul I. Wachs will officiate and burial will be made in the Woodlawn mausoleum by the William Thompson & Son mortuary, White Cottage. The body was removed to the late residence Monday evening from the funeral home.
Mr. Pickens, who had been associated with the S. A. Weller pottery here for 48 years before his death, had been in poor health during the past year, but condition was not thought critical until a week ago.
With his parents, John and Martha Pickens, he moved to Zanesville in 1885 from Indiana, his native state, and for many years lived with them on Ridge avenue.
He was a member of the First Methodist church.
Surviving are the widow, the former Miss Rosella Barber, of Zanesville; a daughter, Mrs. Herminnie Weber, city; two sisters, Mrs. S. A. Weller, North Sixth street, and Mrs. George L. West, Maple avenue, and one brother, Edward L. Pickens, Putnam. A son, Earl, preceded him in death in 1933.

(Copied from the Zanesville Times Recorder, Tuesday, August 1, 1939).
