Mrs. Henrietta Gochenour Dies at Ball Hospital
Mt. Summit, Ind., Feb. 13 --- Mrs. Henrietta Gochenour, 71 years old, prominent resident of Prairie township for a number of years, died at 2 o'clock this morning in the Ball Memorial hospital in Muncie.
The deceased was removed to the hospital for an emergency operation for appendicitis last Tuesday evening. Her condition grew steadily worse following the operation and death came quietly this morning.
Mrs. Gochenour was born near Millville but had spent the greater part of her married life in and arould Mt. Summit. Noah Gochenour, her husband, operated a farm west of Mt. Summit until his death fourteen years ago. Mrs. Gochenour had resided in town since that time, but continued to operate the farm. She was a well known and highly respected citizen.
She served devoutly at the Methodist church and was a regular attendant at the church. She was extremely active in charitable work in the community.
Two sisters, Mrs. S. A. Weller and Mrs. George L. West, and two brothers, William A. Pickens and Edward L. Pickens, all of Zanesville, O., survive her death.
Funeral services are to be conducted from the late home here Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock with the Rev. Wilbur Shirey, of New Lisbon, officiating. Interment will be made in the Mt. Summit cemetery.
