Frank Berney Rites Held Monday--

Funeral services for Frank Berney were held Monday, October 10 at 2:00 PM in the United Methodist Church at Wolbach. The Rev. Delano Cunningham officiated.

Mrs. Lloyd Studley and Mrs. Ernest Bane sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Lead Me Gently Home, Father" and the congregation sang "Rock of Ages" accompanied by Mrs. William Paulman, Jr., organist.

Burial was in Hillside Cemetery at Wolbach. Casketbearers were Douglas Enevoldsen, Donald Berney, Dale Barr, Leroy Studley, Roger Berney and Richard Berney.

McIntyre-Jacobsen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Frank Berney, son of John A. and Emma Imus Berney, was born February 3, 1904 at Wolbach.

He departed from this life on October 6, 1988 at St. Paul at the age of 84 years.

Frank received his education in rural Wolbach schools and attended Wolbach High School. He also attended the Grand Island School of Business. Frank farmed near Wolbach and did carpentry work.

On December 24, 1957 Frank married Hester Piper at Yuma County, Colorado. The couple made their home in Wolbach. In 1964, the couple retired and moved to Woodburn, Oregon. In 1980, Frank and Hester returned to Wolbach to make their home. Frank was a gifted musician and played for many years with the "Berney Boys Band" performing and playing for dances across the state.

Frank was a former board member of the School District No. 27.

He is survived by his wife, Hester of Wolbach; a step-daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Phyllis) Watson of Nacogdoches, Texas; a step-son, Rolland Lowe of Shelton, Washington; four brothers, Austin and Ivan, both of Wolbach, Lowell of Trenton, Missouri and Carroll of Clifton Hill, Missouri, six step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Raymond, Reed, Earl, William and Laurence.
