Hannah Marie Larson was born in the "Dakota Territory" on December 11, 1878, eleven years before South Dakota became a state on November 2, 1889.
Hannah married Anton Kornelius Gran on September 12, 1899. They farmed in the rural Menno, SD area during which eleven children were born to them.
Following Anton's death on Dec 13, 1934, Hannah and her youngest sons tried to earn a living but the depression forced them to sell the farm and Hannah moved to Menno, SD. While living in Menno, she provided board and room to several attending Menno High School for $8 per week.
Hannah is the sister of Hans Larson and their parents are Nikolai and Johanna (Evenson) Larson.
