Nellie Konneker was born in Bainbridge, Geauga County, Ohio, to Lucinda (Fox or Forx) and Henry Konneker. The family spoke German.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Greenfield, Ohio.

In 1903, Oct. 20, at age 20, she married Charles C. Keplinger in Highland, Ohio.
In just over a month, Nov. 26, Charlie died.

She was a widow for almost five years. One family story is that she was a "mail order bride".
In 1908, Aug 5, at age 27, her second wedding was to Thomas Braithwaite (age 42) in Highland, Ohio, United States.

The Braithwaites lived in the Hopewell area of Whatcom Co., Nellie had many stories to tell, was stubborn about moving into a new home the family built for her.
She bore 7 children, five sons and then two daughters:
In 1909, Henry Jr. was born.
In 1911, Joseph Orville lived in Bellingam, near Cornwall Park for years, moved to Tonasket.
In 1912, Thomas Henry was born. Her obit mentions a son Thomas who did sawmill work around Forks on the Olympic Penn. WA.
In 1914, John lived in Ferndale
In 1916, Frederick lived only a couple of years.
In 1918, Elizabeth (Johnston)
In 1921, Isabelle (Summerville)

In 1925, her eldest son Henry Braithwaite was struck while skating on roller skates in a dense fog that hung over the payment by an automobile, and passed away. Nellie's other 3 boys outlived her.

In 1933, her second husband died also.
She lived another 3 decades.
After a long illness and residence in a nursing home, she died in Bellingham, Whatcom County.
