Born March 15, 1911 to Thomas and Nelle Konneker Braithwaite in Everson, he was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by brothers Frederick Braithwaite in 1918, Henry Braithwaite in 1925, and Thomas H. Braithwaite (1973).

Hilma M. Johnson was also a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
In 1950, Joseph married Hilma Maria Olsson (Johnson).

Mr. Braithwaite drove logging trucks in Whatcom County and Forks and operated a lime quarry in Tonasket. He enjoyed fishing, camping and making rose arbors and trellises.

In 1978, Hilma passed away.

In 1979, on June 30, he re-married to 34-year old Aleta LaDean "Deanie" Morgan McIntyre Braithwaite of Texas County, Missouri, with Jimmy R. Summerville and Debbie Strickln as witnesses.

In 1981, on September 16, at age 35, Aleta passed away in Buffalo, Johnson County, Wyoming, USA.

Mr. Braithwaite died Saturday, May 11, 1996, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 85.

A graveside service for Joseph Orville Braithwaite of 3090 Mount Baker Highway will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Greenacres Memorial Park with the Rev. Wilfred Gunderson officiating. [Dr. Wilfred Gunderson is his brother-in-law, as his brother John is married to Joyce Gunderson Braithwaite.]

Survivors include brother John Braithwaite of Ferndale; sisters Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson of Ireland and Isabelle Summerville of Everson; stepsons (via Hilma) Larry Johnson and Erling Johnson, both of Seattle; special friend Hazel Pearson of Bellingham; and numerous other relatives.
