Floyd M. Strickler, 83, husband of Mrs. Elizabeth (Thomas) Strickler, of Greenville, died in the Waynesboro Community Hospital Saturday (Feb. 7, 1987) at 9:45 a.m. following an apparent heart attack. Mr. Strickler was born in Rockbridge County on April 12, 1903, a son of the late James Franklin and Sallie (Swisher) Stricker. Mr. Strickler was employed by the Virginia Highway Department for 32 years before his retirement in 1968. He was a member of the Greenville United Methodist Church and was also a member of the men's Bible class of the church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Lloyd Thomas Strickler, of Greenville; one daughter, Mrs. Shelby Staton of Staunton; three brothers, Boyd Strickler of Greenville, Walter Strickler of Rt. 4, Waynesboro, and Albert Strickler of Attica, Ind; one sister, Mrs. Genevieve S. Kesterson of Greenville; also five grandchildren. A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday in the Greenville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Homer L. Lemaster. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Harold Howdyshell, J.B. Swartz, Jim Hinton, Otis Hinton, Alvin Moomau and Dean Moran. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Mish, Harold Godby, John Brake, Raymond Hays, Larry Misenheimer, Berle Steele, Twyman Heizer, Bob Shiflet, Bobby Cash, Jack McKay, Earl Supple, Lawrence Supple, Sidney Supple and Lionel Moomau.
