Funeral services for Albert Fulton Cooney, pioneer resident of this community were held Thursday afternoon, July 8, at the Wolfe Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. L. H. They.
The singing was by Cecil Weaver accompanied by Martin Hentsch, and the pall bearers were Leonard Cooney, Wesley Cooney, Merle Greenfield, Ed Fryer, Earl Fryer, and Arnold Fryer. Interment was in the Arlington Cemetery.
Albert Fulton Cooney, one of the six children of Jed and Nancy Cooney, was born November 13, 1866 in Montgomery County, Iowa and died in Villisca July 6, 1948 at the age of 81years, after a lingering illness of several months.
His entire life was spent in Montgomery and surrounding counties. He was united in marriage to Phoebe Ann Smith in February 1889 and to this union six children were born, Clint J, Beulah, and Earl M. of Villisca, Thad of Nodaway, Harry A. of Brooks, and Clark R. of Nodaway. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clint J., and Beulah Fryer, also by four brothers, Joe, Frank, Jack, and Clint.
He leaves to mourn his passing, in addition to this children, one brother, Tom, 92 years of age, Villisca; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was a retired farmer and his residence was Griswold, Iowa. His doctor was L. R. Mariarty M. D. of Villisca, Iowa. He was buried July 8, 1948 in the Arlington Cemetery, 5 miles northwest of Villisca, Montgomery County, Iowa. The informant was Thad Cooney of Nodaway, Iowa. A. B. Wolfe, funeral director of Villisca, Iowa and Phyllis Stebbins was the Registrar.
