Earl Manford Cooney was born August 22, 1894 in Iowa to Albert Fulton Cooney and Phoebe A. Smith. He died February 8, 1965 at Dr. Edward L. Croxdal's office in Montgomery County, Iowa of cardiac arrest with coronary occlusion. He was buried in the Villisca Cemetery, Bradley Wolfe in charge of arrangements.
Earl Cooney, age 70 years, of Villisca, formerly a resident of this community, passed away Monday, following a heart attack, while at the doctor's office in Villisca. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Thursday in Villisca with the Rev. George Snyder officiating. He was a World War I veteran. He grew to manhood on a farm, near Guss and farmed here for several years. Wounds he suffered while in service, later caused blindness and he and his wife, Velda, moved to Villisca. His wife, two brothers, Harry of Brooks, and Clark of Billings, Montana survive. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Al Cooney, and preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Ed Fryer and two brothers, Clint and Thad. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery.
