HOLD LAST RITES FOR CLINT COONEY, LIFELONG RESIDENT
Funeral services for Clint Cooney, lifelong resident of the vicinity of Villisca, who died early Thursday morning at the Lewis Nursing Home here where he had been several days for care, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Methodist Church here, conducted by Rev. W. F. Clayburg. Music was by Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Nordyke, Mrs. L. W. Scott, and J. H. Todd, accompanied by Miss Helen Bunker. Pall bearers were Forest Carper, John Zuber, George Erickson, Clint Powers, Earl Scott, and Russel Winter, and burial was in the Arlington Cemetery, northwest of Villisca.
Clinton Joseph Cooney, 49, son of Albert Fulton and Phoebe A. Smith Cooney, was born May 6, 1889 in Montgomery County, Iowa. All of his life was spent in the vicinity of Villisca, Montgomery, Adams, and Taylor Counties.
On October 20, 1907, he was married to Mary A. Moates, who with their one son, Wesley, survives. He leaves also a father and his four brothers, Earl of Gus, Thad and Harry of Nodaway and Clark of Villisca. He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister, Mrs. Ed Fryer.
At his death, which resulted from paralysis of the respiratory muscles, Mr. Cooney's body was taken to the Wolfe Funeral Chapel where it remained until the funeral services.

Wednesday morning several men went to Clint Cooney's home and finished laying by the corn At noon the ladies took well filled baskets and served dinner to all. Those helping with the work were Elmer Thomason, George Erickson, Earl Scott, Robert Sanders, Loren Lynch, Russell Winter, Brock Williams, and William Haas. The ladies were Mrs Winter, Mrs. Earl Scott, Mrs. Robert Sanders, Mrs. George Erickson, and Helen Erickson.
The many fiends of Clint Cooney regret very much to learn of his passing Wednesday night. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon and interment was in the Arlington Cemetery. Mr. Cooney has spent practically all his life in Montgomery County having resided the past several years in the Sciola Stewart Community. He leaves to mourn his passing, his son, Wesley and three grandsons, his father, Al Cooney, and four brothers, also a host of friends.
