Villisca, Iowa, Mrs. Al Cooney of Villisca died yesterday, (November 15, 1931) after an illness of several months duration. She is survived by Mr. Cooney and several Children. Mrs. Cooney's maiden name was Phoebe Smith. She spent the greater part of her life in the Villisca vicinity.

Mrs. Albert Cooney, a resident of this vicinity practically all of her life, died Sunday at 5:40 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed Fryer, two miles southeast of Villisca, her death resulting from paralysis. She had been confined to her bed for four weeks.
Phoebe Ann Smith was born April 23, 1867, near Manchester, Iowa and was 64 years old at her death. She was married to Albert Cooney in February 1889, who survives her. Their children are Clint and Clark Cooney of north of Villisca, Mrs. Ed Fryer of southeast of of Villisca, Earl M. and Thad Cooney of the Guss vicinity, and Harry Cooney of south of Nodaway. There are also two brothers, Harry Smith of Anacortes, Washington and Frank Smith of Long Beach, California, and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Pershin of Kellerton, Iowa.
The body was brought Sunday morning to the Wolfe & Gourley Funeral Home where it remained until the funeral services which were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. L. B. Carpenter and the Rev. Martin H. Keast. The singing was by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tyler and H. C. Lindell, with Helen Bunker at the organ. Mrs. Cooney's sons and her son-in-law served as pall bearers and interment was in the Arlington Cemetery.
