Frank N. Cooney, for fifty-five years a resident of this vicinity, died Saturday evening at 7:30 o’clock at his home in Villisca, his death resulting from kidney trouble and other complications. He had been in failing health several months.
He was born December 5, 1857 in Iowa, and has lived in this vicinity all his life, with the exception of twelve years spent in Woodbury County, Iowa. His father was Jed Cooney, born in Pennsylvania, and his mother was Nancy Gourley, born in Pennsylvania.
On September 30, 1877, he was married to Alucinda Higgins, and to this union two daughters were born, one of whom preceded the father in death. The other, Mrs. Ethel Mitchell of Paola, Kansas, and the wife survive. There are four brothers. They are Thomas and J. P. Cooney of Villisca, A. F. Cooney of Nodaway, and Clint Cooney of Ft. Madison, Iowa.
The funeral was held at the home, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with Rev. J. F. Boyd in charge of the service. The pall bearers were C. G. English, Earl Murphy, C. C. Mayhew, P. H. Peterson, George J. Muller, and Wirt Barnes, and the singing was by J. H. Todd, H. H. Nordyke, F. L. Gerlach, and H. D. Peckham. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery

He died of chronic nephritis endocardittis, on January 24, 1925, at the age of 67 years, 1 month, and 19 days. Informant was Mrs. Frank Cooney, Villisca, Iowa. F. S. Williams, M. D., Villisca. He was buried January 26, 1925 in the Villisca Cemetery, Montgomery County, Iowa. A. B. Wolfe, Villisca, undertaker.
