John L. Wilson, age 87, of Clinton, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. John was born February 4, 1926 in Anderson County, TN to the late Joe A. and Eliza Mayes Purkey Wilson. He was born at the family home on Offutt Rd.Clinton, Route 2 He served as a United States Air Force Veteran during WWII. John was a member of the Valley View Missionary Baptist Church in Dutch Valley. He enjoyed staying busy. He worked as a carpenter .He built his own home on Hendren Rd. John's family was very important to him as he visited with family members especially his brother's and sister's and their families often over the years.He was a loving and giving person who shared his home with family members asking nothing in return. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife: Myrtle Wilson, and brothers and sisters;Mary Wilson,Willis,Carson,Henley,Virgie Ford,Nellie Elliott,Dorothy Wilson,half sisters Bessie Maples,Della Martin,Carlie Purkey,Emma Mayes,Bertha Hawkins, and baby sister Dora:half brother Lawton Purkey and William Wilson.

Granddaughter and Husband of Kingston

Five Great Grandchildren

Several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Visitation: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.
Funeral Service: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Byrge officiating.
Interment: Will follow funeral service at the United Methodist Church Cemetery in the Dutch Valley Community in Clinton with Military Honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
