He was 68 and resided at Clinton Route 2,died at Oak Ridge Hospital Monday morning. Member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church and a retired employee of Rust Engineering Co. He was the son of the late Jess Purkey and Eliza Mayes Purkey Wilson. He was preceded in death by his first wife Bessie V Webber and sisters Della Purkey Martin and Bessie Purkey Maples and step-sister Emma Mayes and half-sister Mary Wilson. Survivors:wife :Louise James Purkey;daughter Judy Purkey:three sons Walter,Ralph and Ray ,all of Clinton;9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild;2 step -sons George and Morris Brown,both of Lake City;sister Carlie Patterson of Clinton; half -brothers Willis Wilson of Ohio, John L.Wilson Clinton,Henley and Carson Wilson of Knoxville;half sisters.Nellie Elliott,Virgie Ford both of Clinton,Dorothy Wilson Knoxville,step sister Bertha Hawkins,Clinton.
Funeral Services Wednesday at Pine Ridge Baptist Church, burial in Clinch River Baptist Church Cemetery.
