Lake City resident, Louise
James Purkey, 80, who had been a patient
at the Lake City Health Care Center for the
past three years, died at LaFollette Medical
Center on Jan. 26. She had heart problems,
a family member said. Before entering the
care center, she had lived at the Fairground
housing development.
An Anderson County native, she was raised
in Briceville. She was a member of Pine Ridge
Baptist Church. Knitting was one of her hobbies.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-laws,
George and Sue Brown, and Morris (Jim) and Jo
of Lake City; a brother Arthur James of
Lake City; seven grandchildren and one great-
granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Saturday night at
Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City with Johnny
Copeland, the Rev. Sammie Epperson and the Rev.
Tim Beets officiating. Burial was on Sunday
afternoon at Clinch River Cemetery.
