Emma's mother died in Hancock Co. Tn. when she was five years old leaving her and her older brother William and her baby sister Bertha.Emma's name was Emily Jane or Emmaline maybe after her aunt,she said her dad called her Emmaline , she
was known by Emma.
Her father remarried and had several more children . They moved to Anderson Co. about 1917.

Emma first husband Thomas L. Vance passed away soon after their marriage.She married Newt Mayes in 1926.

Survivors;four sons,Ulys of Kentucky.Floyd and Shirley of Ohio,Ancil, of Clinton.Three daughters ,Mrs Helen Wilson, Dena,both of Ohio.Mrs. Bonnie Martin,Lake City;four brothers;Willis Wilson,Kentucky,John L Wilson Clinton,Carson Wilson,Johnson City,Henley Wilson ,Knoxville;sister,Mrs.Bertha Hawkins,Lake City;half sister Mrs.Nellie Elliot,Mrs. Virgie Ford,of Clinton.Dorothy Wilson,Knoxville.step-sister Carlie Patterson of Clinton.step brother Lawton Purkey of Clinton s.. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Vance and Newton Mayes ,Daughter Bertie Roysden ,several grandchildren and parents Joseph and Cordie Perry Wilson and her brother William and half sister Mary and step sister Bessie Maples and Della Martin services ,Sunday , 2 P. M.Clinch River Baptist Church,Rev,W.H. Beets and George Delozier, officating.Burial in church cemetery Martins ,Lake City in charge.
