Mrs. Bertha Wilson Hawkins,85, died Monday, May 2, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.Mrs Hawkins was a life- long member of Clinch River Baptist Church.born Sept. 9 1908 in Sneedville,she was the daughter of Joe and Cordy Perry Wilson.Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband,Robert Verlie Hawkins in 1990; a son Roy Lee Hawkins;and a daughter ,Dorothy Abbate. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Carl and Dorothy L Hawkins of Clinton;daughters and sons-in-law,Lucille(lucy)and Curtis of Harriman and Helen and Sam Rhinehart of Knoxville;and daughter-in-law Dorthy Hawkins of Clinton;and son-in-law,Frank Abbate of Burlington,Wis.;14 grandchildren,13 great-grandchildren;five step great-grandchildren;half-sister Nellie Elliot of Clinton;half brothers,Willis Wilson of Lake City and John L Wilson of Clinton;sisters-in-law,Lavada Foust of Lake City and Juanita Humphrey of New York;brother-in- law Willie Hawkins of Knoxville;several nieces and nephews.Funeral service Wednesday at Clinch River Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Byrge and Rev. George Miller officating.Jim Ward deliverd the eulogy.Burial was in Island Ford Cemetery.Cox Funeral Home, Lake City in charge of arrangements.
