Rachel Alma Poor was the daughter of Thomas C. Poor and his 2nd wife Martha Jane (Haynes) Poor from Delaware Co. IN. Rachel married twice, first on July 5, 1896 to Robert Osborn Merriman the son of Nathaniel Merriman and Olive C. (Skinner) Merriman of Jefferson City, MT. After the death of Robert Osborn Merriman on April 20 1914 from pneumonococcic meningitis, she married 2nd on Feb 18, 1918 in Bozeman, MT, William Wallace Burrell b. 18 June 1877, the son of Joseph Robinson Burrell and Matilda J. Spafford. William Wallace Burrell died 9 Feb 1939 and she went to live in Tacoma, Washington in 1935 where two of her sons lived. She died of congestive heart failure in St. Joseph's Hospital. She was cremated at Oakwood Crematory Chapel and her ashes given to her son Robert Nathaniel Merriman. Rachel's children were:

Charles Virgil Merriman born 27 April 1900 (named for her brother Charles Virgil Poor)
Millard Phenimore Merriman b. 26 July 1901
