Son of Thomas C. Poor and 2nd wife Martha Jane (Haynes) Poor from Delaware Co IN who are buried in Eaton Cemetery. Died from typhoid fever.

A transcription of the cemetery had him misspelled Pore. This is incorrect. Died age 22 yrs 6 mos 5 days. Cemetery record said wife: Elizabeth Gagnon

‘Frank' as he was called did not move to Montana with his mothers and sisters after the death of his father and sale of land, but chose to stay in Indiana.

He had some serious trouble that made the papers. On Sept 14, 1885 ‘Frank' Poor was charged and arrested for ‘murder', along with Olney Scott and Bishop Scott in the shooting death of his young 17 yr old cousin, William F. Haynes, who was apparently stealing chickens as a prank. Frank Poor was also present at the shooting. Court documents state three boys were going to visit a sick friend and passed through the Bishop Scott property and made a joke about coming back to steal his chickens. Frank Poor was 22 yrs. old. (William F. Haynes was born 3 May 1867, the eldest son of Martha Jane (Haynes) Poor's brother John Haynes who married Catherine Ashenfelder-.) Charges against both he and Olney Scott were later dropped, and only Bishop Scott remained as the ‘shooter' charged to stand trial. Bishop Scott became ill and died before he was ever actually tried. On Sept. 21, 1885, just a week after being arrested for murder, Frank Poor's name appears on court documents as a witness called, relating to the John Haynes home robbery/rape.

This is the same family that lost their son a week earlier. They had what would now be called a ‘home invasion' back on August 7, 1885 by two men named John Cruse and John O'Neil who broke into the mansion house of John Haynes in the night and commited ‘personal abuse, force and violence' upon (Ida) Flora Haynes (his daughter) and Catherine Haynes (his wife) and Sarah and Jane Haynes were both raped. Sarah Haynes was his eldest daughter, I am unsure of who Jane Haynes was but there is a Jane Haynes, wife of D. Haynes buried in Delaware County so it could have been the wife of Martha Poor's brother Daniel Haynes
