Clipping from Catoctin Clarion of July, 1941:

"July 1941, Rudolph Eyler found a hand forged briar hook with the initials B. Firor stamped in the iron, which meant that it had been made by Benjamin Firor many years ago when he was a blacksmith and wagonmaker in the town. Mr. Firor was born in 1800 and was well known here. He lived where Layton Moser now lives, about a mile south of town. He had a blacksmith shop near the house and his wagon shop was across the road near where the fishponds are today, where he made wagons for Catoctin Furnace when it was running. He died about 65 years ago. There was no date on the iron but in all probability it is 100 years old."
