William Leonard Firor was born March 8, 1838, in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, the 7th child of Benjamin and Anna Maria Eigenbrode Firor. He was also the grandson of John Leonard and Dorothea Elizabeth Paus Firor. William was married twice. Circa 1866, he married his first wife was Julia Ann Eyler, daughter of Perry and Anna Maria Caroline Warrenfeltz Eyler. She passed away on March 15, 1868 in Thurmont, following the birth of her only child, William Elmer Firor who died at age 2 months and 6 days. On September 8, 1881, in Thurmont, William married 2nd to Anna Catherine Wisotzkey, daughter of Frederick Lafayette and Hannah Marie Snyder Wistozkey. They were the parents of 6 children: David Frederick, Jessie Luretta, Guy Wisotzkey, John William, George Henry and Anna Kathryn Firor. William passed away January 3, 1908, in Thurmont, and was buried January 5th in Weller's Church Cemetery there.

"On January 3, 1908, Mr. Wm. Leonard Firor died at home of diabetes. Son of Benjamin and Anna Maria Firor and born March 8, 1838 at Ben Firor homestead. Bought farm at father's death. Married 2nd wife Miss Katherine Wisotzkey in 1882. Four sons, David, Guy, Willie & George, and 2 daughters, Jessie and Katherine were born. Jessie died in infancy. Was a member of Apple's and Trinity Ref'd. With this death passes the last of a large family and generation of the Firor family. Buried in U. B. Cemetery, aged 69 yrs, 9 mos, 25 days."
