Sarah Catherine Firor was born September 27, 1843, in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, the youngest of 9 children of Benjamin and Anna Maria Eigenbrode Firor. She was also the granddaughter of John Leonard and Elizabeth Pauss Firor. On December 28, 1865, in Frederick County, she married Jeremiah Flohr, son of John and Maria Black Firor. Sarah was his first wife. They were the parents of 10 children: James Edward, George Franklin, Emma Carrie, Robert Irvin, Charles Milton, John Calvin, Benjamin Sheeler, Mary Elizabeth, Oliver Nathaniel and Frederick Flournoy Flohr. Sarah passed away February 28, 1890, in Sykesville, Carroll County, Maryland, and was buried in Springfield Cemetery there.
