Daniel Firor was born in Mechanicstown (now Thurmont), Frederick County, Maryland, the second child and first son of John Leonard Firor and Dorothea Elisabetha Paus. He married Margaretta Martin, on March 25, 1813, in Emmitsburg, Frederick County, Maryland. She was the daughter of Matthias and Anna Barbara Troxell Martin, having been born in Emmitsburg, Frederick County, on April 12, 1789. They were the parents of eight children, seven of whom lived to adulthood: Sophia Barbara, Mary Elizabeth, Jacob Levi, Susanna Catharine, David Samuel, Eleanor Anna Maria (died young), Martin Daniel and Ephraim Augustus Firor. Daniel Firor was my great-great-great-grandfather.
