William and Jane were the parents of ten children and one adopted boy, Joseph. Daughter "Belle" was a nurse and "a patient who was dying asked Belle to take her baby to raise. "William Lorenzo Butler, 81, stonecutter, died Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. of infirmities incident to age.
Mr. Butler was born March 9, 1851, in Derbyshire, England, the son of John and Catherine Bridges Butler, and emigrated to Salt Lake in 1876, where he had resided since.
As a stonecutter, Mr. Butler labored for 16 years on the L.D.S. temple, tabernacle and other Church buildings. His wife, Mrs. Jane Rowan McDuff Butler died several years ago.
Mr. Butler is survived by nine sons and daughters, John M., Thomas E., Ralph M., Joseph T. and Catherine B. Butler, Mrs. L.V. Guynn, Mrs. T.L. Parker and Mrs. J.E. Openshaw, all of Salt Lake; William B. Butler, Oakland, Cal. He also is survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren."
Place of Death: 237 So. Third East, Salt Lake City, SL, UT.
Cause of Death: Angina Pectoris, Myocarditis
