LORAN ODELL FLUKE
Loran Odell Fluke, son of Oliver and Cornelia Fluke was born near Chariton, Iowa, in Lucas county, July 1, 1880, and departed this life March 2, 1943, at the General hospital San Diego, Calif., at the age of 62 years 8 months and 1 day, after an accident in which he received a basal skull fracture.
He was united in marriage to Carrie A. Elliott, April 18, 1903. He lived in the neighborhood where he was born until eight years ago when he, his wife, one daughter and two sons moved to Des Moines, Iowa, living there until December 1, 1942, when he and his wife went to San Diego taking up residence at 1735 Edgemont. The children all were established in homes of their own. They are as follows: Ima Corene Whitlatch, Russell, Iowa; Collins E., Edmonds, Washington; James C., Hastings, Nebr.; Robert K., Wateville, Minn.; Kathryn I. McClish and Loran Jr., both of San Diego. Besides his wife and children he leaves his mother, Mrs. Cornelia Fluke, Denver City, Tex., three sisters, Pearl Strickland, Faleon, N.C.; Lillian Johnson, Denver City, Tex.; and Belle Stovell, Carbon, Texas; three brothers, Harold R. and Stewart L. of Lubbock, Texas, and Oma S. of Oregon, also 10 grandchildren. All these with his dearly beloved companion are left to mourn the loss of a loving Christian husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.
He attended the Methodist church all his life until he moved to Des Moines where he bacame a member of the Fundamental Baptist church, holding the offices there of both trustee and deacon. He made friends and was liked by everyone he met and was always ready to lend a helping hand to all, thereby putting into practice the ways of Christian living.
