IMA C. WHITLATCH

Ima Corene Fluke Whitlatch, daughter of Loran Odell Fluke and Carrie Ada Elliot Fluke, was born May 2, 1904 in Olmitz, Lucas County, Iowa. She passed from this life on May 17, 1998 at the age of 94 years, 15 days, at Chariton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and was welcomed into the presence of her Saviour.

Ima was married to Fred Haltom in 1926. To this union a daughter was born, Elizabeth Ruth (Betty). The marriage was later disolved.

On February 20, 1932, in Bethany, Mo., she was married to Caryl Burdette Whitlatch. Four sons, Aryl Vernon, Loran Caryl, Leland Burdette and Robert Kenneth were born to this union.

Ima received Jesus Christ as her Saviour in her early teen years at Zion Methodist Church. She rededicated her life to the Lord at Whitebreast Christian Union Church. Ima joined the Chariton Church of the Nazarene after she moved to Chariton in 1967.

Ima loved her family and made lasting friends wherever she went. She was thoughtful of others and made countless quilts as tokens of her love.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother, Collins Fluke, and her husband, Caryl.

She leaves to remember her a daughter, Betty, and husband Joe Jacobs of San Diego, Calif., son Aryl and wife Joyce of Lisbon, son Loran and wife Sharon of Chariton, son Leland and wife Linda of Cambridge, Idaho and son R. Kenneth and wife Dawna of Chester Springs, Penn.

Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathryn Sanger of Valley Center, Calif., brother James Fluke and wife Thelma of Des Moines, brother Robert Fluke and wife Inez of Faribault, Minn., and brother Loran Fluke and wife Margaret of San Diego, Calif. She will be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 1998, at the Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor James Storey officiating. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery. Serving as bearers were Phil Rich, Curt Lane, Glenn Vail, John Johnston, Larry Milledge and Lee Harrington. Memorials may be made in her name to the Gideon's.
