MRS. LEE PATTERSON

Catherine Wilhelmina Schreck Patterson, daughter of John and Wilhelmina Schreck, was born March 15th, 1875 in Benton township, Lucas county, Iowa, and departed this life at her home in Chariton, Oct. 20th, 1951, at the age of 76 years, seven months and 14 days.

On June 27th, 1897, she was married to Peter Becker and to this union five children were born: Mrs. Bessie Fuller of Lineville, Mo.; Mrs. Carrie Witherall of Chariton; Mrs. Ben Langford of Millerton; and Herbert Becker of Shelby, Iowa. One son died in infancy. The husband passed away June 2nd, 1919.

She was united in marriage to Lee Patterson on Dec. 11th, 1923. Besides the husband and four children, she is survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Paul and Henry Schreck of Chariton, a foster daughter, Ida Decker of Des Moines, and a foster son, Creed Patterson of Amarillo, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother, a grandson, Staff Sgt. Richard Patterson, killed in service, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Eva Walker of Seymour.

Mrs. Patterson had lived the greater part of her life in the Ragtown neighborhood, moving to Chariton about six years ago. Through the years her interest centered in her home and loved ones, for whom she labored so willingly and unselfishly. She will be sincerely mourned by her family and by neighbors and friends alike.

Funeral services, under the direction of Beardsley Funeral home, were held from the Salem Community church, Monday, Oct. 22nd, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals. Interment was in the Salem cemetery.
