JOHN HENRY SCHRECK
John Henry Schreck was born in Illinois to John William and Wilhelmina Kestner Schreck on January 18, 1868 and departed from this life in Chariton, Iowa, August 26, 1955, at the age of 87 years, 7 months.
When he was about one year old he moved with his family to Lucas County, Iowa. Almost his entire life was spent in this county where he engaged in farming. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith when a small boy.
On May 4, 1898 he was united in marriage to Anna Ripper, and to this union one son was born. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and son, Fred, of Russell; 2 grandsons, Carl, who is with the Armed Forces in Japan, and Albert, at home; one brother, Paul Schreck of Chariton; also many nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, 5 sisters and 1 brother.
For many years Mr. Schreck farmed in the LaGrange community and was respected as an upright citizen by neighbors and friends alike.
Funeral services were held in the Miley Chapel Sunday, August 28, 1955, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals. Burial was in the Russell Cemetery.
