Carrie Mae Powers McHone, 83, of Decatur, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at her home.

A native and lifelong resident of Meigs County, she was retired from Fairview Elementary School Cafeteria and was of the Baptist faith. She was a daughter of the late William and Malissie Clark Powers and was preceded in death by her husband, Rex "Duck" McHone; one daughter, Nella Glass; four brothers, Charlie, Henry, Jes and Carl Powers; three sisters, Bell Walden, Amanda Ward and Dorothy Price; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Shirley and Donald Trew of Decatur, Barbara and Clifford Bales of Decatur, Sandra Letner of Decatur, and Patricia and Wendell Jerles of Riceville; eight sons and five daughters-in-law, J.B. and Rose McHone, Rex and Lois McHone, Eugene "Gene" and Margie McHone, Aaron and Vickie McHone, Dean and Brenda McHone, Tommy McHone, Clarence "Toodle" McHone, all of Decatur, and Daws "Fat" McHone of Athens; two brothers, Ammie Powers of Crossville and Sammie Powers of Cleveland; 32 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were 8 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Graves and the Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating. Burial was 11 a.m. Monday in Pisgah Cemetery with grandchildren serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens was in charge of arrangements.
