Joe and Ida Ellis landed at Belleville, OK in 1908 and lived at first in a canvass tent on Mike Bourland's place near her brother Jesse Black.

Ida was extremely close to her brother and he was to her. They came from Scott Co., Arkansas where Ida Mae Black was born March 11, 1885 to Peter and Mary Black. Ida married Joe Cephus Ellis in 1906 and their first daughter Ola Ila Ellis was born July 29, 1907 in Scott Co. Two daughters were born at Belleville: Osa Jane Sept 11, 1911 and Millyea Tennessee Apr 17, 1914.

In 1919 they purchased 160 acres from Ida's parents Peter and Mary.
A neighbor, Charlsie Baxley, was Ola's closest friend. Charlsie remembered, "Ida Ellis was a proud woman, neat in her ways. She was a tall, large framed woman, sort of mannish, but sweet and laughed a lot."

"Mama was sick a lot," Ola recalled, "but she wouldn't give up for an operation." Ida died from appendicitis in her home at Belleville at age of 52 on the 4th of June 1937 and was buried at the Bourland Cem.
