Harlan and Edie became acquainted in Scott Co., Ark when Harlan's brother Jesse Black married Edie's sister Julia Holland.
The Holland family moved to Belleville, Indian Territory abt 1904 and the Black family relocated their abt 1908. Reacquainted, Harlan and Edie began a courtship and were married in 1910, probably at Belleville. Harlan was slender in build with black hair and black eyes. The couple setup their home at Belleville surrounded by family.
In 1915 Edie gave birth to their daughter Nannie Mae Black. Shortly afterwards the family moved to Dixie in Garvin County.
Harlan and Edie eventually joined the Holland family who had settled at Whitebed near Pauls Valley but frequently visited the family at Belleville. Edie died in the early 1920s when Nannie Mae was but a young girl. Harlan and his daughter lived in Shawnee until his death around 1935. Sadly the family lost touch with Nannie Mae at that time.
