HELEN GALLOWAY MOORE Helen Moore passed away at sunrise, Friday, October 12, 2007, at Canterbury Living Center in Oklahoma City. Helen Vivian Anthony was born in the morning on April 29, 1911 to Lutie and C.R. Anthony in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where C.R. had a clothing store. She graduated from O.C.U. in 1935. Helen married Bud Galloway in 1938 and, together, she and Bud raised two children, Morris and Kay, in Oklahoma City. She was married to Bud for over fifty years, until his death in June of 1992. In 1997, she married Dr. Sam Moore. They had known each since their high school years. Helen was very active with her beloved church and her civic causes in our Oklahoma City community. She was chairman of the Mother's March of the National Polio Foundation, served on the Cancer Society Board, worked tirelessly at CWF for Crown Heights Christian Church, started the Casady School Book Fair in 1963, served with the Women's Symphony Society, the Oklahoma Art League, the Oklahoma Art Center, the Zoo Association, the St. Anthony's Hospital Lay Board and assisted the YWCA for years, up to serving on their National Resource Team. Still Helen found time to work for her alma mater by serving on the Board of Trustees of Oklahoma City University. In 1997, O.C.U. honored her by awarding her a Doctor of Humane Letters. Beginning in 1969, she joined the Delegation of American Women and traveled throughout the world helping and promoting the recognition of the many contributions of women in each country. Helen traveled well into her 90's, making her last single-engine flight over the wilds of the Amazon Jungle in 2005 at the age of 94. Helen Galloway Moore is survived by her husband, Dr. Sam Moore of the home; her son, Morris Galloway of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Kay Grant of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Canterbury Chapel at 2:00 on Monday, October 22, 2007. Memorials to Oklahoma City University or the charity of your choice would be welcomed.
